Cowherd Overview - Survivability

Our cows are a very closely related herd with only four foundational females on the dam side in their pedigrees. The only outside ancestral female influence coes from the sire side. Those four foundational females date back to the late 1940s, early 50s, and one cow purchased in the early 1980’s. That points to genetic base designed for functional longevity.

The graphs below show our cow’s efficiencies in relation to the breed as a whole, focusing on Birth Weight (BW) EPD, Weaning Weight (WW) EPD, Mature Weight (MW) EPD, and Dry Matter Intake (DMI) EPD.
Lower than average birth weight, higher than average weight at weaning, smaller than average mature weight, and lower than average feed intake equals an overall increased profitability for our customers.
